DPS Trainer - Navis PDF Print E-mail

The Dynamic Positioning Simulator DPS Trainer developed by Navis Engineering OY for the NavDP4000 series has been designed for conducting advanced and realistic training program in accordance with program and training scheme of Nautical Institute, London, England.

 DPS Trainer

The DPS Trainer has following configurations:

DPS Trainer C4/2

This was designed to facilitate either basic training of 4 operators or advanced training of 2 operators (groups).

DPS Trainer C2/1

This was designed to facilitate either basic training of 2 operators or advanced training of 1 operator (group).

Both configurations meet the requirements of the Nautical Institute. Instructor station provides comprehensive means for exercise preparation, monitoring and recording of operators being trained.

Standard feature of both simulator configurations is 3D visualization of real world model for realistic exercise environment.

It is fully provide access and advantages of NAVIS NavDP 4000 series dynamic positioning system such as:

Friendly User Interface

Interface has Instrument Panel Style and is designed for Touch Screen operation.

Small Size

With minimal number of buttons can be easily located on the Bridge.

Thrust Capability Plot - Unique feature of NavDP 4000 series

This is a diagram showing the area of achievable control forces and moments. It is shown as a polygon in the plane of longitudinal and lateral control forces. Control forces vector within the polygon can be created at any instant of time. Shape and size of polygon depend on current control moment value, as well as configuration of actuators and limit settings for each actuator. The Thrust Capability Plot allows Shipmaster to know the reserve of control forces available at any time.

Thrust Allocation Algorithms

Based on mathematical optimization methods allowing to implement the required longitudinal, latitudinal and control forces, and turning moment at any instant of time, and at minimal overall thrust.  Thus, NavDP 4000 series helps to minimize the fuel consumption at position keeping.

Advanced System of Fault Diagnostics

This system provides Shipmaster with the NavDP 4000 series System Block Diagram, where the failed components (sensors, control computers, PLCs, I/O boxes, LAN…) are shown in red.

Voice Alarms

Easy, comfortable and straightforward way of alarm reporting.

Rede

Farther the normal functionalities the Dynamic Positioning System NAVIS NavDP 4000 has in the Trainee Workstation, the Instructor Workstation has following functionalities:

Exercise Editor Mode

This mode provides tools for exercise scenario and criteria selection/creation.

  • Exercise Manager: Provide facility for easy management of exercise library;
  • Scene Creator: Allows to construct a new exercise area with objects (rigs, buys etc) from library;
  • Scenario Creator: Allows to preset particular weather parameters, ship current parameters, faults etc for the exercise.

Exercise Real Time Mode

This mode provides tools for exercise loading for training and interaction/parameters changes.

  • Basic Training Setup: Provide facility for conducting independent exercises on DP Operator stations A and B;
  • Advanced Training Setup: Provide facility for conducting one coordinated advanced exercise on DP Operator stations A and B. (e.g. DP2 class vessel);
  • Online Scenario Change: Interactive on-line introduction of changed conditions (weather faults etc) for any of exercise set running.

Parameter Settings

Main controlled settings and parameters.

  • Vessel position and heading: Allows to set position and heading at simulation start up;
  • Vessel Draft: Sets particular vessel draft within limits of mathematical model;
  • Wind: Sets direction and speed of wind (also changes in gusts);
  • Sea Current: Sets direction and speed of sea current (preset change);
  • Waves: Sets height, period, direction and spectrum;
  • PMS: Generates generator, bus switch and thruster switches (on/off), faults;
  • Faults Generation: Sets configuration of sensors and reference systems, generates faults in sensors and DP configuration.

Other existing resources are:

  • Integrated application for creating, editing, explaining the trainee mission, exercise fulfilment and debriefing;
  • High accuracy data presentation on the basis of vector charts (capability to automatically load all the charts referring to the selected gaming area);
  • Multi-lingual user interface (English, Russian, Japanese);
  • Facilities for creating an exercise and automatic competency assessment scenario;
  • Control of simulator session(s);
  • Continuous automatic recording of data in the course of the exercise (main, audio and video log files);
  • Real, slow and fast time modes;
  • Capability to turn on the display of a track in the form of a succession of contours (Track mode) and to set the track prediction mode (Trend mode) for all the exercise objects (Global settings) and for one object (Local settings);
  • Weather conditions manager.
